Mentorship for Teachers:
The Yoga Essence mentorship program is designed to help expand and improve your yoga teaching career. This is perfect for those who completed a 200hr YTT and need extra support to; find their voice as a yoga teacher, craft more intentionally sequenced yoga classes, and inspire their students.
Navigating the challenges of being a yoga teacher can feel lonely and like an impossible mountain to climb. Our goal is to show you that anything is possible with the right guidance and to open you up to our supportive community that will always be there for you.
In our program, we will help you:

Fine-tune your teaching style (type of class, personality, music, etc)

Establish hands-on assists, refine verbal cues, and find your voice

Craft a yoga sequence that makes sense for every body that walks into the room

Learn how to balance your own person practice/beliefs and teaching to your audience

Provide you with the opportunity to teach at Yoga Essence
When enrolling in our program, you will get 8 customizable hours. What does this mean?

8 hours designed around your needs and wants to use within six months of enrollment

One on one mentorship time with Chelsea and Nicole

Opportunities to co-teach alongside Chelsea and Nicole

In person (at Yoga Essence Studio or off-site), you might:

Work on alignment habits so the demands of teaching don’t wear on your body

Talk through what language to use in teaching (e.g. how to offer modifications for a particular student without slowing down or confusing the rest of the class)

After Completion:
After completion of the Mentorship Program with Yoga Essence, participants of the program will be offered a Community Class at Yoga Essence. Mentor(s) will attend class(es) periodically, and when ready, participants will be added to the Yoga Essence Sub List. Those who successfully complete the program may be eligible to take on a permanent class(es) at Yoga Essence Studio.

Meet your mentors:

Chelsea is a 200-hour RYT who began practicing yoga during her college volleyball career. What started as a physical workout turned into a way of life. Just a few weeks after her college graduation, she ventured to Kripalu School of Yoga in Massachusetts to become a certified yoga teacher so she can share this gift with others. As a firm believer in leading a healthy lifestyle by exploring your best self, her classes will increase your strength and flexibility while gaining a true awareness of the breath. Chelsea receives great joy by helping others find happiness. She achieves this by cultivating an environment where students can communicate openly, admit their struggles, celebrate their accomplishments, and feel proud of who they are on and off their mats. Chelsea believes there is so much growth that can be discovered from the mental, spiritual, and physical practice of yoga. To her, yoga can start at any age for any body. Each sequence is unique, with the ability to speak to each individual. Regardless of your experience as a student, Chelsea will safely guide you through the class while offering modifications showing you that yoga is for every body.

Nicole is a 500-hour RYT who has been in a relationship with yoga for 25+ years. While teaching in Newark for 8 years, Nicole shared her love of yoga with her co-workers and students. After leaving her career in the inner city school system to have twins of her own; Nicole merged her passion for teaching with her love of yoga, and became a certified yoga teacher! Nicole is a Hatha trained instructor with a specialty in Ashtanga, Yin and Vinyasa. Nicole has a love of learning. She has gone on to obtain her certification in kids yoga, her 300hr advanced certification, a certification as a teacher of Mindfulness and Meditation and enjoys taking any workshop she can. Nicole brings a friendly smile, creativity, passion, dedication and tons of fun to all her classes. Her classes focus on commitment to breath, meeting the student where they are on their personal yoga journey, and bringing each student to his or her “edge”. Nicole is known in the studio for her abundance of never-ending energy, funky playlists, challenging flows, and her relaxing voice. Nicole welcomes all students in with open arms and an open heart; finding immense joy in supporting others as they explore their mind, body and soul on their mat.
